This original watercolor painting is 12″ x 16″ and comes beautifully double matted and framed in white. All of my original paintings include a certificate of authenticity with the painting.
My Process:
When I paint in watercolor, I like to start out with an outdoor session to capture a scene, pulling in the design and composition of my subject, and getting a color study where I capture the colors and how the light and shadow play with one another. In some cases, I use old family photos and memories. This painting is captured from a phot my wife Megan took while we were hiking in Vermont. I start with a light sketch to capture the composition, then lay in lights to begin the process of homing in on color, light, and shadow. In this painting, I worked from back to front, light to dark. I enjoy how the distant mountains came out in contrast with the more vibrant foliage in the foreground. This painting brings back an especially fond memory as Camel’s Hump Mountain is close by where Megan and I climbed to the top and I proposed.
